Tips on How to Store a Mattress

A little bit of TLC before storing will ensure your mattress remains in good condition during storage.  Also, although they look quite big, mattresses are not that cumbersome to store.  Here is some advice on how they should be handled for storage.

Clean it

At the very least your mattress should be vacuumed before you send it to your storage unit.  Pay particular attention to creases where dirt may have accumulated.
 
You may also want to have it cleaned.  For the DIY option use a good upholstery cleaner.  Otherwise, a Google search on Mattress Cleaning will give you a whole lot of options.  No need to transport the mattress, they’ll even come to you...

Wrap it

Once the mattress is fully dry it must be wrapped.  This will avoid dust getting into the mattress.  Remember, you have to sleep and breathe on it!  Never wrap your mattress too tightly, allow it to breathe to prevent moisture built up.  Ask our staff at the shop, we have mattress covers for single, queen and King size.

The mattress can be stored upright against the storage unit wall or flat on top of flat furniture.
 
If you decide to store it flat, then remember not to put anything on top of it as this may put strain on the springs and will cause damage over time.​
