Wash all clothes before packing them. Body oils on clothes, with time, will yellow your whites and stain your colours. Make sure your garments are fully dry before packing them to avoid mold and mildew damage. Do not throw your clothes in plastic bags carelessly. Fold all garments neatly to avoid hard to remove creases. However, do not fold garments made from delicate material such as silk and leather, instead they should be hung. You may consider using a port-a-robe for that purpose (see our packaging page). Your clothes can be packed in either cardboard boxes, plastic bins, or suitcases. If using plastic bins make sure your clothes are 100% dry as moisture will not be able to escape and mold will set in. Leather clothes should not be packed in plastic bins as leather needs to breathe. Make sure you label your boxes so that you can easily retrieve what you are after later. Store your boxes close to the front of your storage unit so that they are easily accessible next season. |
